Community & Events Manager

  • Hybrid
    • Amsterdam, Noord-Holland, Netherlands
  • Community

Job description

We’re looking for a high-energy, people-loving Community & Events Manager to help us grow and nurture our CrowdBuilding community. This is a hands-on role for someone who thrives on connection, has a flair for organisation, and isn’t afraid to pick up the phone.

You’ll be the friendly face (and voice) of our community, helping us build meaningful relationships with individuals and projects shaping the future of housing. From hosting events like our twice-monthly CrowdCafés to representing us externally at housing forums and summits, you’ll make sure our community always feels seen, heard, and supported.

About CrowdBuilding

At CrowdBuilding we believe that the housing shortage can best be solved by residents themselves.

Our mission? To make the collective self-build movement bigger – in the Netherlands and eventually worldwide. Why? Because we believe that living can be fairer, more affordable and above all more fun. Building together not only strengthens social ties, but also creates resilient neighbourhoods where people are truly there for each other.

But it doesn't stop there. We are also committed to a healthy planet. By embracing and promoting circular and bio-based construction, we want to make environmentally friendly ways of building the norm.

That is why we consciously work with projects and professionals who, like us, want to make an impact: socially, for the climate and financially. That is why we are guided by the principles of the Donut Economy, in which the optimal balance between justice and sustainability is leading. In this way, we not only build houses, but also a better future for everyone.

Responsibilities

  • Organising and delivering engaging events, from in-house events to external panels, meetups, and sponsorship opportunities

  • Managing and executing our CrowdCafé programme (2x per month)

  • Representing CrowdBuilding at external events (alongside our team), including securing speaking slots for our team of experts, attending networking events and conferences

  • Mapping and tracking the growth and engagement of our community

  • Supporting the onboarding of new community members and guiding them through their journey with us

  • Making 20–30 calls per week to connect directly with community members and prospective project leads

  • Identifying and reaching out to promising projects and helping them connect to our platform and network

  • Collaborating closely with our Product, Partnerships and Marketing teams to ensure community insights feed back into our work

Experience and Skills

  • Native or Near-Native Level of Dutch is a must

  • Have 3–5 years’ experience in a startup or scale-up environment, ideally in (online) community management or an outreach-heavy role (like sales or partnerships)

  • Are exceptionally organised and love pulling off events with style and attention to detail

  • Have super-high energy and get a buzz from talking to people and building relationships

  • Are a natural communicator — clear, warm, and persuasive

  • Are curious about or already engaged in the community-led housing movement

  • Care about social causes and believe in the power of people working together

  • Don’t mind picking up the phone and making things happen

  • Have a valid driver’s licence (nice to have, but not essential)

Benefits

  • Generous employee stock option plan

  • Steward-owned company

  • Work with a diverse, purpose-driven team

  • Free lunch, snacks, and drinks

  • Transport allowance

  • Opportunity to significantly impact the housing sector and contribute to a socially meaningful mission
